About us

The Deutsche Bundesbank's Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue fosters the exchange of expertise with central banks and monetary authorities around the world and, by doing so, makes an important contribution to international monetary and financial stability.

The Bundesbank maintains representative offices and representatives in 14 countries, who continually monitor the economies and liaise closely with the local financial sector.

We offer staff from central banks and supervisory authorities across the world numerous options for multilateral specialist dialogue. Our international central banking courses provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. Bilateral projects offer the framework for our experts to deal with any individual questions that a partner country may have in an in-depth technical dialogue. Furthermore, the Bundesbank participates in projects financed by the EU.

Around 3,000 experts from more than 90 countries worldwide now engage in this exchange in central banking each year. The geographic focus has shifted over the years. Following the political transformation in eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union in the early 1990s, attention later moved to the growth regions of South and South-East Asia as well as Africa and Latin America.

The Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue follows the best practices which were drawn up and published with the involvement of the Bundesbank in December 2017.

One of the principles of the ESCB best practices is evaluating central bank cooperation activities. To this end, the document “Approaches to evaluating the international cooperation activities of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB)”, also produced in collaboration with the Bundesbank, was published in February 2020.
